Our first neighbourhood is being built in Santana.
A founded village of 8–16 homes on 3,840 m² of land in the north of the island.
A neighbourhood is taking shape in Santana: a home of your own, with shared green space, a community garden and gathering areas around it.
The land is bought and we are designing the neighbourhood with our architects. We are at the beginning, and we will share each step as it happens.
Before any building is designed, this is what's fixed about the land itself.
3,840 m², flat terrain
We expect between 8 and 16 homes. The exact number and the size of each plot are still to be confirmed. We will share them as soon as we know.
The Continente supermarket, a BP fuel station and the motorway are all close by, about a 3-minute drive away
Garden water is planned from a nearby levada, for a monthly fee. It is part of the architectural concept; the official approval is still to come.
Roughly half of the land will stay open, green and unbuilt, and a large part of that will be shared by everyone. The exact shares are still to be confirmed.
Status as of November 2026

3,840 m² of flat land in Santana, in the north of Madeira.
The size of each plot is not decided yet. The detail of the whole project, above all the shared spaces, is still being designed.
The final project still has to be submitted to the city hall for approval.

Construction begins once the project is approved. The start date will follow as planning progresses.
Our goal is that people can move in by 2030. This depends on approval and construction, and we will share a date as soon as we know it.
Santana sits in the dramatic north of the island, with volcanic peaks, ancient laurel forest, and levadas winding through mountains older than memory. It's not remote. It just feels that way, which is exactly the point.
Madeira is a car island. From Santana, Porto da Cruz is 10 minutes away, Machico is 20, and Funchal — for the bigger shopping days — is 40. The whole island becomes your backyard. The south is changing fast; the north is still what drew us here in the first place.

We don't know yet. We are still confirming when plots become available, whether they will be sold or rented, what they will cost, and how big each plot will be. We expect between 8 and 16 homes. The people who receive our updates will hear first.

No. Signing up is free and carries no commitment, and it does not secure a plot. It is simply the way to stay in touch and to hear first when there is news.
Slowly and consciously. Interested people first get to know each other, and us, and we give that phase plenty of time. Only once we have seen how the dynamics between people develop do we, the founders, choose the households. Anyone can opt out if living next to someone does not feel right, but nobody can remove another household. What opting out means depends on the stage: early on it is simple, but once construction has started, a household that opts out would have to pass its plot on to a new household, and may have to find that household itself.
The parts of the neighbourhood that are there for everyone, such as the community garden and the gathering areas. Every household has access to them and the same obligation to help maintain them. How that will be organised, for example if the neighbours decide to hire a caretaker together, is not decided yet. Using the shared garden, activities and events is optional.
Some smaller decisions within a private home can be made, as long as the household covers any extra expenses itself. The overall layout of the neighbourhood is set by the founders together with their architects, and households do not take part in it.
Yes. The founders are already confirmed neighbours. The other members will get to know each other through the community that is being built. Further down the line we plan to create online gatherings, and maybe physical ones too, for the members.
No commitment, no deposit: just a way to follow the project and meet us. Leave your email to receive updates and hear first when plots become available. Signing up does not secure a plot.
